Add Planet Hulk to that list Worldbreaker might be best version of Hulk there is.

My alltime favorite comic ever. Sigh.... With the lack of respect they get currently in comic form, I've resigned myself to the fact that they'll never be done justice on film.

Here's the complicated setup:
The Illuminati decide that Hulk is too dangerous to be on Earth and they shoot him off to space.
And go.
I've never been a huge Hulk fan but I read the Planet Hulk arc at least a dozen times. I was lukewarm on the World War Hulk event at the end but when he's on the gladiator planet, there wasn't a better story out there at the time*.

*Hyperbole to English translation-"it was a very enjoyable story."

Use to be mine also. Besides writers, all the Crisis style reboots decimated the book. IMO The Great Darkness Saga is one of the top story arcs out there.

Haven't read that much DC cosmic stuff but I do think Darkseid is a great character and along with the New Gods did make for some good stuff. And Lobo is pretty cool.
For the Marvel stuff I always thought Galactus was a great unique character - with his having to eat and being a kind of primal force and his coming from the universe before this one and all. It still kind of ticks me off that they have jobbed him out so much in more recent times. The Watchers are pretty interesting but their "just watch or get involved" dilemma is pretty limited.
The Kree/Skrulls and Shiar make for some interesting cosmic empire politics and controversy. I agree that it's a shame the Skrulls are tied up with another studio. Seems it's taken two races to take their place already - in Avengers and GotG.
I also liked the idea of humans as a Terran empire and wrecking stuff they presented in
Avengers Forever.

Amen brutha.
Geoff Johns brought back the original continuity Legion about 5 years ago(ignored the 5 years later run) and it was very good. Until DC felt guilty about pushing Paul Levitz out as President and handed him the series and he proceeded to deficate all over it.
Read this and thank me later
ETA:
Speaking of the Legion, DC actually does have a great cosmic setting but its in the 30th/31st century.
In terms of cosmic characters and stories, my completely unbiased opinion is:
DC 31st Century > Marvel Cosmic > DC 21st Century

I think DC has a better more woven together multi verse, but I think Marvel does a better job with the cosmic stories within the 616.

Here's the short answer.
In DC, Earth is the center of the multiverse.
In Marvel, Earth is just a part of it.

Now that you mention it, I think I have that series. It's in one of several boxes of books I never got around to reading
Looks like I'll be digging through boxes tonight....

Yup.
Wasn't Earth midway between the Kree and Skrull empires, making it a strategic planet for both?

It's marvel for sure but the Green Lantern Corps is still keeping DC in the game as far this topic is concerned. And marvel has nothing like apokolips too.
On that note, I've been reading a fan fiction series for the past few years and he's done a very good job in this regard coming up with the best and most powerful version of Krypton I've ever seen. His Krypton is very well developed and has quite a backstory. He also fused both parts together as his series is a marvel/DC crossover and this topic is great in that regard.
