Again...if the guys want to do it themselves than fine. But #7 has been a great number at LSU on both sides of the ball

Like I said, my lack of interest in the #18 thing has far less to do with the tradition of handing down a special number to a deserving player than it does with decided #18 is that number. Seems pretty arbitrary to be honest to have picked #18.

Nobody cares what you think about the passing of the number dude. No person ever asked your opinion in that perspective. Its a honor for the player to get it. Scouts in yhe NFL see that it is a sign of maturity and leadership.

Its not arbitrary. It is a number that is close to other teams wearing a C on their jersey. Hester was the definition of a hardworking player that established his name with effort and discipline, and Mauck happened to also possess those qualities. It has become an honor to wear it, and that guy is one if our leaders.

So no, its not arbitrary, I think definitely started with Hester, and it signifies leadership. I don't really get why it bugs people, the intention is pretty obvious.
