I'm glad you responded reasonably.

What I find frustrating is that I can tell you are a very intelligent man, but you seem to have a blind spot for the bigger picture.

Hamas does not want peace. They don't care about peace. They want Israel out of the Middle East. They do not want a two state solution, no matter where the boundaries are drawn. They want Israelis out of Jerusalem.

But how can Hamas accomplish this? They can't take on Israel in a real military battle. They foment hate for Israel constantly and teach it to their children. Their only effective tool (for now) is to drum up international support. They do this by provoking Israel into attacking them. Then parade the "victims" for a show and tell, regardless of the truth. They believe and teach their children that death in fighting the Israelis is the only honorable way to go.

The hard-line religious parties (Shas and United Torah Judaism) aren't in their coalition this time. They were not invited to join.

This is only true if you look at their original charter, in which case it's equally true of Likud.

The famous Palestinian "HAMAS MAJORITY" of 2006 was preceded by Hamas dropping the eliminationist plank from their election manifesto. LINK

And they have, multiple times since then, publicly acknowledged a willingness to accept the 1967 borders. LINK LINK

HBHY is definitely a hard-line religious party:
quote:

As the descendant of the National Religious Party, the Jewish Home is willing to cooperate with secular Israelis in governing the state, but it has not forgone its objective of creating a polity governed by Jewish law. The party's members adhere to the belief that Jews are divinely commanded to retain control over the Land of Israel.

Jimbeaux neither side wants peace in this lifetime. Peace for Israel means no sympathy and no tolerance for expanding settlements in Palistinian territory, as well as less people and countries sending cash to support the cause. Peace will also force the government to be more accountable for the welfare of the displaced Pals. For Hamas peace means no more donations and sympathy from the muslim world and having to fend for themselves. Actually having to govern is more than these shitheads can accomplish. Peace is the worst nightmare of both of these groups. The truly sad part is the hardliners on both sides are miles away from the figjting and dying while innocents on both sides are in harms way.

Seems pretty obvious to everyone, the BHO administration and the UN are no friend of Israel and Red State Americans.

Who are those people?

I see a lot of Palestinian sympathy. I've seen people critical of Israel. I haven't seen many singing the praises of Hamas.

PSA: You can be critical of Israel and think Hamas are despicable.

Trackfan Burt Reynolds a few others.
