Seventh best starters' ERA in baseball at 3.33

Minor and Harang give up so many runs that it almost wouldn't matter if the Braves put up 5-6 runs.
Harang has a 3.43 ERA. In July it's 2.65.
Again, the pitching is not the problem. They're pitching with absolutely no margin for error because the offense is terrible, so any mistake by a pitcher is magnified.

Harang was amazing in his first 5 starts. Since then he has held a team to 0 runs one time. He's held a team to 1 earned run 3 times (including the shutout). Aside from that, it's been twos, threes, and fours. It's also not so much about giving up the earned runs over the course of the game it's the fact that he does it so early in the game. Now I agree that our bats are not where they should be, but it's hard to really want to fight for a guy when you are down 2-0 coming out of the gate. Too many things are going wrong for this team right now. I wanted more of a shakeup than what we saw. At least we still have time through the end of August to make another move.

No clue about it being a braves bar, but the flying saucer is awesome if you like beer.

Can't really shake things up with big moves when you have nothing to give up.

Caratini will not stick at catcher. The Braves had no use for him even if he somehow does. Future utility guy/DH.
The Braves did about as well as they could have. Bonifacio fits in well on this team. Obviously Miller would have been better than Russell, but the return the Red Sox got from Baltimore for Miller was absolutely ridiculous. Not even close to worth it.
As others have said, there is almost no flexibility on this roster. The bench needs serious improvement, but I don't see anything else they can do.
If Schafer is DFA'd tomorrow the Braves did about as well as they could have this month. We have no cap flexibility and an extremely shallow talent pool in the system.

Phil's are spanking them right now, but Phillies did have to go to bullpen early. Need to watch late innings.

The Braves seem to always make horrible deals
It's almost painful to be a fan sometimes (and I consider myself one)... They always pull the rug out from under you.
I know the deal we made was far from blockbuster, but as a trade itself I don't see how it's horrible at all...
We have a guy at catcher now who is fricking smashing the ball, and a future great catcher who is 23 yrs old, Caratini was likely never going to play for us in the big leagues, we upgraded out bench, and got a lefty reliever.
So if you want to be disappointed that we didn't make a splash fine, but the trade itself is fine

The ultimate question is will this help us win in the playoffs? If yes, good trade. If not, could this guy get a better return a couple years down the road? If so, bad deal.

Bench bats are important in the playoffs, so I would think yes, I'd much rather see Boni off the bench than Schafer.
I don't really know much about the lefty we got, so I dk if it helps us or not

Tell me about it.
I think the pitcher has a negative WAR, so we are screwed.
