quote:I suppose we can say the same about Hamas. Why don't they come out and face the Israelis in the open? Haven't got the stomach for it, despite the fact it would spare them all the international criticism and worldwide hatred.
They'll never do that because they don't have the stomach for it, despite the fact that it would spare them all the international criticism and worldwide hatred.
Hamas has chosen the battlefield. They seek battle among their civilian population because they know that separating themselves from the civilians is suicide. Hamas fighters are beneath contempt. It is laughable that they proclaim their bravery when they hide their faces from the world and slink behind their women and children when faced with prepared foes.

U.S. forces have encountered this type of opposition in almost every war in U.S. history. Vietnam had the Viet Cong. The Stern and Irgun groups as well as the IDF have used their share of dirty tactics in the past. To some degree, so have we.
Call it terrorism or whatever you wish...it's "guerrilla warfare". It's dirty war...real dirty. And it has probably been around and more often used by disadvantaged sides as a very effective tactic against much stronger forces since war itself. It's just that in this case, the Israeli army is the more visible, stronger, opposing force.
