The one time we ate there he had his waitstaff preemptively tell us that there would be no making changes or substitutions to his dishes. Mind you, we hadn't suggested that we were even contemplating ordering any dishes and asking for a change to them. That rubbed me the wrong way from the get, then when what we ordered came out looking like "upscale" hotel food from the 90s and lacking any semblance of flavor that just put me over the edge. Chef Duke needs to 1) get over himself, and 2) update and learn to impart flavor into his dishes.

Every time I've been there, he's personally visited my table and other tables and was quite pleasant. Staggered some apps for me one time when I ordered those rather than an entree. He came over after the order and asked me how I would like them served. I thought that was a great touch. All of my food has been very tasty and service has been excellent.

I eat Italian once in a while when in New Orleans, but not every time by any means.

Tory McPhail posted a pic of a meal he had at Marcello's last night, I believe. Gonna look into that restaurant. If anyone has written about it, I must have missed it or thought it was in some other city.
