Well, wasn't Noah a drunk in the Bible?

Maybe I'm confusing him with someone else.

Noah was drunk in the Bible after they got off the Ark, not while on the ark. I know they were going to take liberties with the story to adapt it to the screen but having your protagonist become part antagonist near the climax was pushing it a bit far for me.

Its safe to say they took so "liberties"

The whole story is a liberty. If the ridiculous details were written by someone thousands of years ago, ok, but if they were written today, bonkers.

Hell, the bible says that the water rose and covered all land. Mt. Everest is 60 million years old, which means it was the tallest point even then. Therefore, im supposed to believe that cold blooded snakes and other animals (not to mention unconditioned humans) survived at that elevation for over a month? But frick rock people.

Noah being a "righteous man" meant that he was a raving, overacting lunatic.

Well, Noah was a drunk that had sex with his son as soon as the Ark washed up on shore.

Exactly. Too many people are crying about it not being true to the Bible. Who gives a damn?

Although I do find it interesting that the Sumerians also have a flood story. Most religions arising out of the middle east do actually, which suggests that Ancient Mesopotamia actually did flood at one point and the ancient peoples thought it was the entire world, because, you know, what did they know?

so someone heard/read a story, changed a few details to suit their needs/beliefs and then passed it down as the genuine article.

This. If it's a bad movie then ok, but I heard a lot of bitching about it not being true to the Bible. Like my dad couldn't get past the story changes in Troy and just enjoy the movie for what it is.

Yeah I guess I just don't understand this sentiment. "GUH! They totally changed that from the thing that I'm already completely familiar with! CURSE YOU, WARNER BROTHERS!"

And then they turn around and whine about the fact that there's no originality in Hollywood anymore.

I guess the idea is: if you're not going to be original, then don't be original at all and just spit out the old, tired shite over and over again. But otherwise, be original.
