Newman will play PG so he's not even relevant to the discussion.

Blakeney, a freshman, is not going to take Hornsbys, a senior by that point, spot. He's an unquestioned leader of this team and isn't losing his spot to anyone.

Bringing blakeney off the bench would be a huge spark for us especially with him being a volume scorer. Also bringing him off the bench would more than likely keep him in town one more year so idk why people are freaking about him becoming a starter right away

We get it, we heard you.

How about waiting until the season starts before you start patting yourself on the back.

He is relevant because he's a guaranteed starter, which means 1 less current guard starts.

And Patterson, a freshman, would never push JUCO all American Josh Gray to the bench, right? RIGHT?

Blakeney is a better overall player, that's why he would start at the 2. Can he score from deep, drive to the bucket, whatever...he's a natural scorer and destroys team's defenses. Hornsby really just stretches the floor with his 3 point ability, half his shots are 3 pointers. Obviously, he's very good at it, but Blakeney just brings a little more.

So at this point, you have Newman at the 1 and Blakeney at the 2. The question is who plays the 3 and that's between Quarterman and Hornsby. Both have the size but now that we know we have 2 freshmen at the 2 guard spots, JJ is going to want to get an experienced ball handler on the floor. That would be Quarterman.

You act like bringing Hornsby off the bench would be a bad thing, it just shows how talented we'll be next year. It's not like this year where guys off the bench may play 5-10 minutes a game. We could have a 9-10 man deep rotation next year where no one plays more than 30 minutes and guys off the bench could play as much as 20-25 minutes. Patterson and Hornsby would complement each other VERY WELL off the bench and would bring a ridiculous element to teams to defend with their second lines.
