Fewer fans travel to A&M on Thanksgiving?

I've had the discussion with a couple of friends about what the expected LSU crowd would be this years given the game is now a Thanksgiving night affair. A couple years ago LSU brings a nice crowd as it's the first SEC meeting b/t us despite it being at 11a. It makes sense this would be one of the better attended road games due to proximity of the campuses and the large number of alumni in the Houston area. But I have a suspicion that the LSU crowd will be a bit thinner than say if it were on the Friday or Saturday following. Will the Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lafayette, Shreveport fans be willing to either give up or cut short Thanksgiving with the extended family? It's easy for Houston fans since it's a night game and an easy drive if you do an early lunch at home.

No. It will be a sparse crowd and will soon become a hated "tradition" for LSU fans due to it essentially meaning that most LSU fans will never get to experience a game at Kyle Field because the game is on Thursday. If it were on Saturday, it would be a completely different story.

I think you under estimate the size of the LSU alumni population that lives in and around the Houston area.
LSU will be well represented on Thanksgiving in College Station.

I completely agree with this, I have two tickets and will not likely attend.....

Only possible saving grace is the vast amount of LSU alumni in Houston.

I've got an Aggie wife, so we will probably be going if we can find reasonable tickets.

How is it any different than an early Friday afternoon game in Little Rock? You had to be away from home on Thanksgiving and travel to get to the game for Friday.
College Station is a better trip. There will be more fans there than there were for Arkansas games.

If I can find a couple friends to go to Aggieland I'll tell my family they are shite outta luck. Im going to watch the Tigers play.
And watching the Tigers play has always been a legitimate excuse in my family.

I agree....I think fewer LSU fans make the trip to Kyle Field for a Thanksgiving game. It might improve over time, but I would expect fewer fans initially.

It's a little different because it's the day after rather than the day of. Also, good luck finding any LSU fans not living in and around Little Rock that liked the Black Friday game. Everyone HATED it.

I'm one of those alumni myself. I think the majority of the crowd will be the Houston crew but the fans that would have normally made the trip over from Baton Rouge or New Orleans may not because of family/schedule. Some of my anecdotal evidence is the fact I was actually able to get tickets through LSU when I almost never get road game tickets to SEC West opponents not named Miss St.

You had to drive there on Thanksgiving.

I only went because my parents lived in Shreveport. I'd drive up to do Turkey with them and then that night we'd drive up to LR since it was only about 3 to 4 hours drive. I even drove up the morning of once.

My inclination is that many will not. Obviously some will, but I'm guessing the vast majority of LSU fans will be those living in Texas. Even if one lives in Houston, it's still a lot of effort. If they game is not very impactful on the outcome of the season, then it may be even worse.

True. Now you have to take a vacation day off of work to drive there and miss Thanksgiving with your family. The other way, you could at least have thanksgiving and then drive. This is like comparing a giant douche to a turd sandwich. They both suck.

It won't be that tough for Houston people. If you forgo any sort of tailgate you could leave Houston around 3 and leave yourself plenty of time to get there for a 7p kickoff. Just plan for an early lunch if you normally do turkey at 2 or so.

Exactly, it works well for Houston LSU fans, but Louisiana Tiger fans are screwed.
