Raised Southern Baptist and I'm still Southern Baptist. The church that aligns with my personal preferences are the ones where the congregation understands that the church isn't just for "do gooders," but is for sinners (hard to find). Plus, the preacher has to provide fodder for the mind, heart, and soul - not just hell and brimstone...

Then you're clearly in the wrong church, since the biggest judgmental pricks I've ever known have basically without fail been Southern Baptists. Have a gay guy bring his boyfriend into your church and see him as an equal sinner.
