Have any of you been a white man in Laredo yet?

Get back to me after a week there.

Miami.

I was trying to watch the world cup on south beach and everywhere was playing it in Spanish. By the 3rd bar I gave up and just watched it in Spanish

Albuquerque could be up there. On one hand, the city is more American than any other with all the Native American-influenced architecture, but on the other hand, you don't really see that outside of that region of New Mexico.

Detroit is a lot like Gaza right now. But, eventually, Gaza will be cleaned up and things will stop exploding.

San Francisco.

The architecture, the people, the politics, the neighborhoods - It's so much of a beachy, Pacific, and Asian culture that I felt like I had entered another country when I went.

Downtown Los Angeles looked a lot like Cozumel Mexico to me. Same shops and signage.

Not exactly what you're asking, but when I attended my newcomers briefing at Ft Polk in Leesville, the Commanding General's welcome started with, "Ft Polk is like being stationed overseas, there's nothing close so you have to drive a good distant to do anything and the locals don't speak very good English".

I thought that was pretty funny.
