What a lazy arse way to end a fantastically complicated story. I get the point and the message, but the last episode was a real let down. I thought after the Flashback Jacob and Man in Black episode that the ending had real potential. I was wrong. Also, why wasn't the Man in Black the good guy. That crazy bitch killed his mom and then his entire village. His actions were warranted. Jacob, on the other hand, was borderline retarded and just did as he was told by the crazy psycho woman.

The man in black grew up to be one of Al Swearengen's right hand men in Deadwood.
I really didn't care for the ending on the island either-however, the church scene was great. Lots of feels.

Here's what's disappointing about Lost.
I watched seasons 1-4 and then the first episode of season 5. Even with over half of the series under my belt, I barely have any fricking idea what you're talking about. The only reason why I know who Jacob is is because I saw an episode or two where they went to his house but he was invisible, which means I don't really know who he is.
The show Lost lost its cohesiveness midway through season 4. The beginning of season 5 was even worse, so I stopped it with the great memories I had of seasons 1 and 2.

If your invested in the characters I think you'll find it very satisfying. If your invested in the mysteries I think you'll believe you've wasted your time.

Lost is fantastic. The ending was the correct one.
With that said, the flip flop between the MiB and Jacob (as far as motivating factors for the characters) WAS an issue in the story.

Think about the conversation between Jack and his dad. The show ended perfectly. Jack died saving the survivors off the island and they met together before "moving on".
My wife and I watched the finale while packing to move to another state after living in Texas for 22 years. It was a great opportunity but we hated leaving a life we left. When Christian told Jack "they weren't leaving, just moving on.." My wife and I looked at each other and said "That is us".
Great show

I didn't care for it much when it was on, or at least I didn't care for it as much as Lost fanatics did.
In its defense though, one of the key things of Lost was the discussion of it as it happened. Something that a you or any person just watching it now will not get to experience.
