I've been kind of puzzled as to what type of QB our coaching staff covets.

We had Mettenburger in cam's first year and the whole world discussed his 'pro' style offense and it was an obvious improvement.

I thought I was going to see an offense like this from now on.

Then when 'lil Rivers left, along with Retig, I was getting a vibe from various quotes from recruits, fans, coaches ect. that Cam is enamored with the idea of a dual threat QB.

IMO Miles has always preferred a dual-threat Qb

But now, with the recent developments pertaining to this thread; it seems we have taken an action that will result in getting a great pro-style QB while losing a great dual-threat QB.

Just curious what yal think...... which type of QB's, of the two, should we expect the Tigers to recruit in the future; and what type of system are we gonna run

Since Mett was already here when CC arrived, and the trend towards athletic dual-threats, I'd say CC prefers a dual threat QB. (my humble guess)

I don't think the coaches are looking for a "type" of QB.

I think they have a set of skill parameters they consider. First, they score each QB prospect on those skill parameters. Second, they cull the players who don't meet the minimum for particular parameters. Third, they weigh the scores of the parameters for each of the remaining prospect.

The offensive scheme remains constant. The play calling shifts slightly to meet the skillset of the QB.

For a VERY ROUGH example, let's say each QB prospect is scored for the skills of passing (P) and running (R) from 1 to 10.

. . . . . . . . . . P . . . R
Prospect A: 3 and 9
Prospect B: 8 and 4
Prospect C: 6 and 6
Prospect D: 6 and 8
Prospect E: 9 and 2
Prospect F: 4 and 8
Prospect G: 8 and 6

A coach that runs a pass-heavy spread offense might take Prospect E. A coach that runs the option might take Prospect A. I think LSU would probably eliminate QBs like Prospects A and F (P<5), and decide to take Prospect D and/or G.

Cam and Miles have enough intelligence and experience to make an offense work whether it’s a Franks or a Patterson at QB. The frequency with which certain types of plays and formations/packages are called might adjust a little, but it will still be the same LSU offense we are used to seeing.
