I strongly recommend that you avoid practice and golf lessons. If you are never going to be a pro it's a waste of time and money. You can see instruction videos on line for free. If you spend 10 bucks on a one year subscription to Golf Magazine they will keep sending it to you for 20 years for free because they make their money on ads.
Just go out and play. I was also a baseball player and told early that my golf swing was too flat. Now, I learned that the flat swing is in with the professionals.
Who cares? Just go out and have fun.
