or because he didn't show anything.... kid had 3 at bats in Triple A so I don't think that counts and batted .265 in Double A last year with 108 strikeouts in 411 at bats
We'll just agree to disagree. If Shane Robinson wasn't pushed back down with the addition of Buorjos and Grichuk added, I'd imagine Ramsey would be at Triple A this year.

As long as Masterson is healthy, I'd rather trot him out there than Miller, Martinez, or Kelly. Seems like a good trade for the Cardinals.
Maybe with a change of scenery you'll be right. I hope you are at least.

needed a veteran with experience behind Waino. The rest are kids.
Kids with almost as much postseason experience as Masterson.....
wacha, Kelly, and Martinez all have more experiences (looking at innings) than Masterson and Miller isn't far behind

Masterson was really good last year. His walk rate has spiked a ton this year, if he can just get that in line. Plus he will be going from playing in front of the worst D in baseball to one of the best.
Plus Shelby Miller looks dreadful (granted he was really good last year as well), Martinez is lucky to make five innings, and Kelly is meh.

I agree with this 100% but with the other options out there I would have liked to have seen Mo not play it so safe. Get the veteran but get one that is going to be an improvement as well.

Experience is experience, exactly why you add a cheap veteran with a bunch of kids like Miller Wacha Kelly Martinez.
Sorry we can't be like your Dumbass Yankees and add 20 shitty veterans for 180 million and watch the playoffs from the couch again.

They are all, including Masterson, lucky to go 5 innings. So what's the point when it takes you out of contention for the other options?

And Masterson would be the 5th most experienced postseason pitcher for the Cards...
wainwright
wacha
Kelly
Martinez
Masterson

Good thing he has more experience than all of those names combined without Waino.
Hell just between this season and last he has more innings pitched as a starter than Wacha, Martinez, and Kelly combined.
Postseason experience is about the least of a concern for the St Louis Cardinals good lord.

quote:really good is a stretch... he still had a 3.50 ERA which the way pitching is, isn't that good anymore... although he struck out 9 per game which is a career high for him.
Masterson was really good last year.

Good thing he has more experience than all of those names combined without Waino.
Masterson has pitched 11.2 innings in the postseason and only 2 innings since 2008....
wacha has 30.2 post season innings
Kelly has 29.1 post season innings
Martinez 12.2 post season innings
and Miller has 4.1 post season innings
Congrats on obtaining a guy who has been a MLB veteran longer but has very very little post season experience... you know where it actually matters

Who gives a frick about postseason experience on the St Louis Cardinals? We have so much that it leaks out of our assholes when we sit down or cough.
God you are dumb. And a shitty troll.
So glad the Yankees are irrelevant.

The Mariners are no longer pursuing Marlon Byrd, sources tell Jayson Stark of ESPN (Twitter link), but the Yankees do have some interest in the Phillies outfielder. However, the Yankees, like other teams, are wary of Byrd’s $8MM vesting option for the 2016 season.

O's are trying hard to get them to pull the trigger, I don't see how it can get done without Gausman or Bundy
