experiences streaming WatchESPN through Chromecast, Apple TV, & Roku?

Cut the cable earlier this year so now I only have streaming. I am hoping to be able to use WatchESPN to stream football games this season. Does anyone have experience using the subject devices to do this?
I currently have a Chromecast but have never tried using it for ESPN.

Works beautiful for me. I watched the entire World Cup on it.

Yes I do have this. It worked on my phone in the car during the World Cup.

I watched probably 50% of the world cup on my phone using watch espn and the other half on my roku using the same. The Roku gave me higher quality, but that's because it was obviously hooked up to my wireless as opposed to using AT&T's network. Quality has always been great through my Roku, personally.

I have a Chromecast already and would be using the wireless network in my house for the streaming. I have done it with HBO, Netflix, etc, but never an actual live sports event.

Phone.
The chromecast doesn't stream through either technically, that's why it has to recognize your router. Whatever you use to connect it allows it to "control" the Chromecast and be a "remote." THe signal is coming directly from the internet to the router to the Chromecast. Not from the internet to the computer to the router to the Chromecast.
Quality should be identical no matter if you connect from the phone or the PC.

Thanks for the info. I am not savvy at all.

How are you getting WatchESPN with no TV service? I thought you had to subscribe to a TV service to get this, unless you are sharing someone's password.

Have Chromecast and Roku, and Roku is far far better, IMO
You will need a cable login to access Watch ESPN. It is not free, and you cannot pay for the app ad hoc. You can only access it with a cable subscription.

I have both too and the roku streaming stick is absolutely Awesome for the price! Only 15 more than chromecast and you get so many free channels with it.. And a remote. I highly recommend.. You can also get 3rd pArty apps from online for roku you just install from a computer to your account.

Another amazing thing you can do with roku or chromecast is get an app called plex media.. And you can stream all your downloaded movies or tv shows regardless of format from your computers hard drive wirelessly straight to your chromecast or roku. It cost like 5 a month but is well worth it! If you have the roku it will even play all your movies consecutively without having to keep hitting next.. Plex is truly amazing and well worth it

Used in on my Roku for the College World Series. Worked well enough for me. (Doesn't work on the older Roku models... in case you have one from a few years back).
