Thats just not true.

Petrino was 2-2 against LSU with one of the losses in OT

Fine. In Arkansas' best years under Petrino, they were losing to the top two teams in the west. In 2010, it was Auburn and Alabama. In 2011, it was Alabama and LSU. I don't see how this changes under Bielema and the addition of Malzahn and Sumlin to the fold.

This is a program that has never won an SEC Championship and has represented the SEC West in the SECG just twice since the turn of the century. One of those times was because Alabama was barred from postseason activity.

I think I could deal with a 10-2 season and going to a BCS bowl

I think they have been three times (Nutt took them twice) but all total they have a losing record in SEC play. I'm interested is seeing what Bielema can do but it is going to take some time. I thought this was a good assesment of the situation.
quote:

Bret Bielema arrived in Arkansas after having a decent amount of success as head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers, winning three Big 10 titles during his tenure from 2006-2012. His predecessor, Bobby Petrino, left the Razorbacks in a state of disarray upon his firing over multiple scandals. With Petrino at the helm from 2008-2011, Arkansas finished eighth, tenth, twelfth, and ninth in recruiting in the Southeastern Conference.

Petrino left Arkansas devoid of talent capable of competing at a high level in the Southeastern Conference, and amid all the scandal, hindered the team's ability to attract recruits into a stable environment. In Bielema’s first season as head coach, the Razorbacks finished winless in SEC play. But lack of continuity has played a huge role. Interim coach John Smith was present all of a year in Fayetteville, finishing 4-8, so this will be the first season that current Arkansas seniors will play for the same head coach two years in a row.

The Razorbacks open against 2013 SEC champions Auburn, and face five opponents who finished ranked in the Associated Press top-25 poll. Since transforming the struggling team Bielema inherited in 2013 to a fierce competitor in the SEC will take time, it may be a few seasons before Arkansas becomes bowl-eligible.
