the same principal should be applied to Gerry for Sabans success. Look at those early LSU rosters they were filled with Dinardo recruits and players

Its more than that. Its what Saban did outside the lines that made a difference. I am not sure why nobody in this thread will understand this. YES. Saban had some players to work with. Look at what he did the 1st year. from a crap team to a bowl team. and brought fans back into the stands. The TENN game and the MSU game that year were some of the best games in TS history. And it rolled on from there.

These threads remind me of a trial. Each side mostly brings up just the pros for their guy, while highlighting the cons for the other guy.

What Nick outside the lines to improve LSU was from a facility perspective. Because of him LSU improved all of its facilities to state of the art which put them on par with many of the elite programs at the time.

You bring up outside the lines, then everything you mention is between the lines. Fans came back because LSU was winning, he turned a "bad" team to a winning team not because of bad players but merely bad coaching, he improved that and LSU started winning.

The Tennessee game is one of the best along with 96 vs Florida with Dinardo, 07 vs Florida with Miles, 03 Georgia with Saban, etc....
