Banana Blossom on Belle Chasse Hwy
only place in the area I've been that's a cut above.
Cafe Equator in Metairie is passable, but not really worth seeking out.
This is probably the proper answer.
Singha is a passable lunch spot in the CBD, but I wouldn't seek it out otherwise (I haven't been to their new location, but have been meaning to go). Sukho in the Marigny used to be good, but that was when the guy who now runs Banana Blossom was cooking there, which was several years before they opened on Magazine, which has never really been good.

I've always liked this place. Not true-and-true Thai food, but really good for the value.

just went, don't see a need to return.. Myabe Thai food just isn't for me.
I like Viet, I like Indian, but the four times I tried Thai I didn't like it.
I got the Green Curry with beef, coconut soup and shrimp golden rolls.

I disagree. The larb gai is great as an appetizer/salad and the "countryside menu" is fricking great.
