At what point is it not worth the $ to get higher mega pixel home security cameras. I am mainly looking at the 2mp vs 3mp...but is the 2 that much better than the 1.3?
I am not looking to see if someone has crumbs on there shirt from lunch...but I find it silly to have a camera that you can see a person but need NSA facial recognitions software to figure out who it is...
TIA

1.3mp will get you 720p resolution on a monitor. 2mp will get you 1080p. 3mp just eats up hard drive space unless you need to do some frame-by-frame stuff.

And thats what I had read the 720 vs 1080 so I was looking at the 2mps. But wasn't sure how much better is 3mp vs 2 at 1080...I tried to look at some online vids of the two but wanted some real world experience between the 1-3mp.

I have a 1.3 side by side 3 and it's almost impossible to see a difference. Now depending on your application that could change. The cameras you linked are decent cameras. I assume this is for a residence.

Glad you replied...I had seen you reply to other post about the subject.
Yes for my house...probably a 4 camera system to start...maybe add one or two more depending. Just outside....I dont live in a bad area but ya never know. Id like to bust the damn UPS driver drop kicking my shite sometimes.
I know there are cheaper systems...this is what my wire guys like to use. They did the pre wire/ structured wiring in my house along with the alarm and other things. I may add some automation down the line.
This is the NVR im probably going with....the 8ch. NVR
Do those look like the best looking/functional 2mp option they have? I had looked at the 2000s and 2000ir as other options. Cameras

I'm not familiar with that particular line, I just know it's not crap. I know some people who install them. Who's your wire guy ?

Yeah, I don't know them. Don't work with many people outside the area. You looking to do control 4 too ?

Elan g+ is what they like to use there. I looked into it...but it was a bit too much for now. Got lots of other stuff to do (currently still building) before I remote control everything. I was already heavily vested in Sonos stuff for music in my last house.

Mobotix. You will not be disappointed. Probably the best cameras on the market.
