I agree that it was a great first season. Did the season end with the first book or was there more or less? I am making my way through the book now and am curious.

I don't remember, exactly. I binge read the books to catch up with the series, and there have been some departures (like the hacker chick) that have thrown me off.

Without having read the books, I really expected the end of the first book to have Abraham and Eph die and the next book to have awesome Zach, vampire killing machine to carry it. I really thought that was where they were going when they gave him the sword.

Agreed, his childishness doens't fit well into this story. Though I'm sure the fact his father is now giving him a sword is to illustrate the changing mindset of "rational thinkers" to the current set of problems.

Kids, period, don't fit in apocalyptic/epidemic stories and situations. No (good/decent) parent is going to be like "Well, my kid is being a bitch I'm just going to leave him/her behind or kill them." Eph is behaving like any parent would...at least he isn't like Lori.
