I'm not sure why anybody gives a damn that the block can handle 2000hp. That's not relevant to much of anybody. I've never heard of anybody failing an Ls block. I've heard of plenty of people spending large wads of money to get plugs changed on their 5.4 though.
Ls>ford modular. There's an assload of 6.0's out there with 250k+ miles and no oil leaks.

As far as engine block architecture, yes it is superior and GM and Dodge adopted some of techniques used to make those blocks as strong as they are (extending the block skirt, cross bolting the mains).
Then why isn't everyone on the 1/4 mile running a 5.4 based motor? That's the glaring hole in your argument. If it's THAT good, then wouldn't everyone want to run a Ford 5.4 based block?? Also, by that logic, the 426 hemi is the greatest engine of all time.

No opinion, just a plain fact that GM has to make a specialty engine block to get into the 2000hp category Ford guys have been doing with mass production blocks.
Link?
And as already mentioned, who gives a shite about 2000hp? My initial argument in the old thread was centered around naturally aspirated stock motors and mildly modified NA motors.

Your buddy isn't that handy if he can't fix the problem. I fixed one in a college parking lot with basic hand tools and the kit I mentioned. I never said it wasn't a flaw, I was making a point that the issue was in fact addressed and you somehow failed (and keep failing) to figure that out. Do we need to bring up flaws GM should have never had like the infamous piston slap, AFM, dropped lifters, etc? No, but you seem obsessed over this particular sparkplug issue.
Why are you so fixated on my buddies mechanical ability? That was never my point and I specifically stated that already. The point is that it was a huge issue, and it should have never been one. I am aware it was "fixed" - though making a kit and telling people to fix it/pay for it themselves is a shitty fix IMO. Majority of customers are not mechanics and do not do any work on their own vehicles, paying someone to do the work (especially just a few short years ago) was more or less the only option and a $2000 quote for work was not an off base estimate (many here would agree). That's absurd. It makes 0 difference that YOU think it's an easy fix and that YOU can do it in a college parking lot...YOU aren't the rule, you are the exception. It was a big problem and is still something to be wary of in the used market today.
But I see you've gone to bashing GM in order to save face for Ford. Be careful, your inner fanboy is showing.

My powpow drove a Ford truck, my daddy drives a ford truck and now I drive a Ford Truck.
2002 F-150 4.6ltr with 267k never any mechanical issues other than the COP's going bad. Still drives great and pulls whatever I need to.
