This is not a difficult concept. The Israeli state was created in a very contentious way in an area that is very hostile to them. They do what they feel they must to ensure their survival. The ME is not a place for the squeamish or indecisive I'm afraid.

It's worked out really well for them...Palestinians are totally cowed, peace through bombing is just around the corner!
And as for how badass the Israelis are, I guess everyone is conveniently forgetting about the last time they tried to move into S Lebanon against Hezbollah.
We need to disengage and stop pouring money into this conflict. These assholes need to resolve it themselves.
And I've said it before and I'll say it again the creation of Israel by the western powers after WWII may go down as the single biggest foreign policy failure of the 20th Century.
