It's a quick read. Only 170ish pages.
If you like comics/graphic novels, I recommend Gaiman's The Books of Magic as well.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane is a beautiful novel. I can't recommend it enough.
But I'm severely biased.

The Graveyard Book is also an extremely fun, dark retelling of The Jungle Book.
