A divorce has nothing to do with your instinct to self preservation.

Someone told me they wanted divorce records to check for any history violence or acting out reported during the divorce that never brought formal charges or been reported during the marriage. I have no clue if that is right or not and if so it's BS because most of the time stuff like that is nothing more than a pissed off ex-wife running her mouth.
I want to say, all I had to send in was a copy of my final judgement and it didn't even have to be certified like my DUI records.

Which is total crap IMO

What's total crap is the fact we even have to be licensed. It's a joke to justify it being needed when only good law abiding citizens would spend the time and money to be licensed in the first place. What do they think a criminal is going to do, take the class and fool with the fingerprints and crap, send them money and wait a month to go rob a store with a gun or shoot someone.
I firmly believe the only reason we have to take a course and have background checks done is so they don't give a license to a violent criminal. They know good and well it won't stop a criminal without one from concealing a weapon.
I hope you're right KR and that it goes away soon, but I think it is brought before the house for feel good legislation from pro-gun districts and they will never give up that easy money they are making on it.

I agree on all counts.

I am also of the opinion with KR that Constitutional Carry will be around sooner than we think. I think more like 7-10 years we'll see it.

You are correct about the first part -- but it's more than "feel good" legislation.

It also serves as a law enforcement tool -- which is why the La. Sheriff's Association opposed the bill that would have done away with concealed carry permits.

Example: If a cop finds a gang member carrying a concealed gun without a permit, they can take that person, and the gun, off the streets --- without waiting for him to use that gun to commit a robbery or a homicide.
