However, New Orleans is still hoping to trade up into the first round tonight. The Pelicans are aggressively pursuing a deal to give them an early choice, as they look to bolster their playoff chances next season. The Pelicans biggest areas of need are the small forward and center. If the Asik deal is indeed agreed upon, New Orleans would be shopping tonight for the 3-position.

It would be nice if we could get #17 for Rivers. Draft Express shows Gary Harris at 17, how does he compare to Rivers? Rivers is a solid defender, has an elite ability to get into the lane (although he still needs to work on finishing and FTs), and he's become a very good spot up 3 point shooter.

I'll take Rivers over the draft pick. He looked pretty good at the end of the season and will only get better.

Harris is a sophomore, so I would think it's pointless for them to grab him. You figure he would have a few year learning curve and you already invested two years into Rivers. It would be like starting over. Obviously it's a case by case basis as far as they younger guys go.
I think if they trade for a pick, they may look for an older, NBA ready guy. Adreian Payne, KJ McDaniels, Cleananthony Early? Maybe? idk.
There are certainly a bunch of SF types in that mid teens range that we could target.

But Rivers vs. Pick is not the choice, the choice appears to be
Keeping Rivers + Trade Value of Ryno
or

I meant from Boston's point of view, ie would they give up #17 for Rivers.
