Grantland Article: The Draft is "The Ultimate Crapshoot"
Posted on 6/25/14 at 4:31 pm

By Bill Simmons
Someone remind me, hasn't Bill Simmons dogged us ALL YEAR for the Holiday trade because we traded a 6 and a 10 (Which he says in this article have historically rarely produced anyone of note) for a 23 year old allstar?

fricking Simmons. Yells from the rooftops that the Jrue/Noel trade was stupid and the only way to build it through the draft, then calls the draft the ultimate crapshoot. Which one is it Bill? I really just think he hates small market teams.

I think he legitimately views small market teams as development units for the big market teams.
As in, not how it is in reality, but how it should be.

He must hate that small market teams are all the rage right now(MEM/POR/OKC/SA/Indy)

He'll be pissed when these teams don't trade away their best players to the Knicks/Lakers/Clippers/Celtics/Bulls for peanuts

I don't like nola being small market team either. Sometimes I feel like we're trying to build a race car out of a Nissan Sentra to compete with the Corvettes of the NBA.
it does suck.. and I pull for the nissan sentra.

That spot yielded two superduperstars (LeBron and Duncan), two all-timers (Howard and Iverson), three franchise guys (Davis, Rose and Griffin) and five All-Stars (Irving, Wall, Yao, Brand and Martin)
Davis should be included in that "all-star" category...
Just saying

Prolly wouldnt tab Duncan as a "superduperstar".....lofty adjective for a "franchise player" at best.

I hope you're only saying this because he plays in a small market and never talks.

Bc of his championships, right?
Just think Duncan was a product of a great organization which had the right pieces for championship runs...i.e. A franchise player
KG, Dirk, and Barkley were better PF's imo.

There is a common denominator in all of the Spur's titles.
Duncan is listed as a PF 9 of his seasons and a C the last 8 seasons, FYI

Yaa...I really don't like Duncan AT ALL but even I have to and CAN admit that he's arguably the best PF of all time.

I mean, I just cant put Duncan in the same category as Lebron, Kobe, Shaq, KD, Jordan and a few other players, who were considered as game changers and could put teams on their backs to win games.
