FIFA can confirm that disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the player Luis Suarez of Uruguay following an apparent breach of art. 48 and/or art. 57 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code during the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ match Italy-Uruguay played on 24 June 2014. The player and/or the Uruguayan FA are invited to provide with their position and any documentary evidence they deem relevant until 25 June 2014, 5pm, Brasilia time.
According to art. 77 lit. a of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC), the FIFA Disciplinary Committee is responsible for sanctioning serious infringements which have escaped the match officials’ attention. Furthermore, according to art. 96 of the FDC, any type of proof may be produced (par. 1), in particular are admissible, reports from referees, declarations from the parties and witnesses, material evidence, audio or video recordings (par. 3).

I guess he bit off more than he can chew.

If he's found guilty, the rule calls for a minimum ban of 2 matches and a max ban of 24 months.

should be charged by the real police for assault

It should call for a forfeiture of the crap goal they scored right in the midst of all the protests and arguing.

Suarez thought he was going for an Italian sub, but unwittingly bit an Italian starter instead.

Tweezy and I were talking earlier and we both agreed that you would love Pierre Højbjerg if you got the chance to watch him play.

Suarez will raise defense that his dad was a survivor of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571.

They can ban him from all competitions

6-9month ban and max international ban
Purely international means nothing

You know its bad when Martin Tyler is giving up on a Liverpool player.

If the 24 months is international only, then it's meaningless. Needs to be a worldwide one year ban.

Unfortunately FIFA does not have that ability. Also I don't see why Liverpool FC should be punished.

It's his punishment, not Liverpool's. If they suffer, that's just collateral damage of his actions, not FIFA's.

Seriously, why should Liverpool be punished?
Suarez bit someone while wearing a Uruguay shirt. He should absolutely be banned a certain number of games. Whether its two games or up to a 24 months of games, whatever FIFA hands down I am OK with. Luis Suarez should absolutely be punished.

I'm almost looking forward to the board meltdown when he's not banned for as long as lots of people are saying he should.
