If it's causing you grief year after year, I don't think anyone will hold it against you.

When I was dating my wife years ago, before Facebook, I had a birthday alarm that would send me an e-mail telling me her birthday was coming up. After she died, I never turned off the alarm. I kind of like seeing it pop up now, years afterward. It reminds me of happy times.

But you can view it however you want. If it's not a good experience for you, then by all means, you can let go of the Facebook page. Download all the pics you might want from it first, though. You might want those later if you were close.

We weren't that close. Still think highly of the guy, though.
