I got an A without reading the text. My strategy was:
-read through lecture slides
-complete the weekly assignment to reinforce some of the concepts
-re-read/study lecture slides again
-watch weekly videos at 1.25x speed just before test

I found Heller's quizzes intuitive IF you thoroughly read the chapters and write out (copy) the PPT review slides, I followed this procedure each week and found the questions largely easy to answer. ALSO, there are two fairly easy questions from BOTH of the youtube Ted talks. I watched each one twice, again, the questions were relatively straightforward.
