young (ages 3-5) and were around them as mom or dad? Or did you call them by their name? My cousins wife refers to him as dad whenever the kids are around.

I refer to my wife as mommy when talking to the kids about her, but I usually call her "Honey" when talking to her around them. So, every now and then my smart arse kids will call out "Honey" when looking for her

No kids.

My parents always called one another by their names. If they were referring to the other parent in conversation with us kids, it was Your Mom/Dad.

Depends on if I'm including the kids in the conversation.

When addressing her, I use her name. When talking about her to them, I use Mommy/Mom.

Is that not normal?

Our son is 2.5, so we still call each other mom and dad, but it depends on the situation. One reason we do it is because he's started trolling us by calling us by our first names with a cheesy grin and then laughing his head off .

I'm 26 years old(I'm the youngest) and my mom still calls my dad 'daddy.'

I never found this weird until now.

When I refer to my wife with my daughter I say your mom, but when i'm talking to my wife I call her by her name.

Very seldom, my daughter will call me by my first name, but I just correct her.

My wife wanted us to start calling each other mom and dad to cut down on the confusion, but I couldn't make myself do it.

I think it's fine, and probably even good to use "mommy" or "daddy" when you are speaking directly to your kids, but when you're speaking in front of your kids, but not to them, you should probably use your real names.

I don't base this on any parenting experience, but once, in 1st grade, the teacher was asking our class about our parents as a part of some lesson and this poor ginger kid didn't know his parent's names, and we all gave him hell for it.

I was dad and mom, always. We knew my dad was in serious shite if she called him Gerry.
