Goldeneye was a good Bond film and the first I ever remember seeing all the way through. It's not my favorite, nor is it the best, but it is definitely one of the top ten Bond films.

Live and Let Die was my favorite as a kid. Casino Royale is my favorite as an adult. And Roger Moore is James Bond to me. Love Daniel Craig, but for me he is the newest Roger Moore replacement. Sean Connery was just a tad before my time - as much as I like him, I wasn't (and still am not) able to appreciate him as Bond.

My favorites are Thunderball, Goldfinger, and The Spy Who Loved Me.

My guilty pleasures are Moonraker, Octopussy and Live and Let Die.

The ones I feel are underrated gems are The Living Daylights and For Your Eyes Only.

Favorite Theme Song - Man With the Golden Gun.

Favorite title sequence - Goldfinger.

Favorite opening - Moonraker.

1. From Russia with Love -- less gadgets and great story
2. Thunderball -- Claudine Auger and the movie that cemented the Bond gadgets
3. Goldeneye -- Because Pierce should have been Bond long before this and would have altered the course the franchise was taking a while back
4. On Her Majesty's Secret Service -- Because it was the closest to the books we ever got
5. Casino Royale -- Because it brought Bond down to the brute level of the books again that everyone for some reason hated when Timothy Dalton did it, despite the fact that Daniel Craig looks more like Jason Bourne than James Bond

So did I, and he sucks

Can someone explain the power of nostalgia to me?

Isn't that kind of a given? Kind of like saying:

Best Niven: Casino Royale

FWIW Niven was Ian Fleming's choice for the role (they had been IRL friends since WWII) but the producers felt he was too old.

Just me, but my 1-2 would go:

1. Casino Royale
2. From Russia With Love

I think Casino Royale was exactly what the franchise needed at the perfect time, since I think people had grown tired of the gadgets, the corny one liners, the fact that Bond never seemed to get in a rough spot or even have a hair out of place, and the fact that Bond never showed a vulnerable side (outside of OHMSS). CR took it to a place that no one had ever seen it go at a time when that was exactly where it needed to go.

Haven't read the entire thread, but the only Bonds I've seen are the newer ones starting with Pierce Brosnan and forward. Are the old ones better/worse and does each movie have it's own story or do any follow an arc? Lastly, which I guess ties in to the last question, do I have to watch them in order?

Other than the first two (Dr. No and From Russia With Love), you don't really have to watch them in order. The first two deal with SPECTRE and are meant to be in sequence, whereas the rest aren't. I haven't seen the Dalton movies in a long time, but I don't believe they're in any sort of order either.
