I've harped on this before, but on the issue of working age adults on the dole

I don't think many Americans, not even Democrats, like the idea of people that have every ability to work, choose not to and live on the gov't dole. Why is it such a horrible policy then to create government work programs so these people can work, though? The economy runs better when full employment is reached, anyway. And it removes the moral hazard. Let the working age idle rebuild our infrastructure, clean up the schools and the parks. Let the government give them a sense of self worth. That way, our taxes are not going to unproductive people, but to productive people. Also, it helps people who want to work, but are not able to find a job in the market.

The Dems know they will lose votes if the abled bodied leech has to work for money that he has always gotten for doing nothing.

When i was unemployed we needed to prove we applied for work that week. Greta idea. But.. in regard t earlier postings, there needs to be more jobs available. Get America's money out of the Caymans and reinvest it in jobs here.

Why should Gov be involved at all.
As a conservative Libertarian...I do not think it is "progress" to simply have gov involved DIFFERENTLY than current

No, Democrats don't care. They celebrate when more people rely on government.

I'm unconcerned with that as it involves THIS thread. The gov "paying" folks is the same whether they 'work' or on the dole....insofar as economic impact.

If they can work and do not...frick 'em.

What? This doesn't make sense. If there was a demand for improved infrastructure then there wouldn't be a need for government forcing the project.

They have to tax someone to pay for those jobs. Those taxes kill jobs. Do you think the government is going to be better at determining which jobs are necessary than private enterprise?

There are jobs available they just might be "above" the ones out there.

Starbucks is currently giving away a free education to get people to work there. There isn't a shortage of jobs in this country. There is a shortage of people who want to work instead of collect checks from the government.

This would be another case of the Broken Windows parable.

Just an FYI, the market is considered fully employed at 5%

No one does that! They are just "discouraged" from searching for work and give up, causing Obama's unemployment numbers to look better than they are.

Again..YOUR OP was that these are people "on the dole" and you posit that it would be somehow "full employment" if the government created some 'labor' for these dole denizens to do.
That is NOT "full employment" to simply pay the same dole dolts and have them be 'park trash attendants' for the very same dollars from the very same gov.
silliness.
You've changed NOTHING as relates to the economy or production by paying the same dollars to the same people from the same gov and simply calling it "employment"
