Because they are banned, at least by NCAA standards which I believe is what we are discussing You can buy them at the store, but that doesn't mean they are legal to use in the NCAA.

Supplements have changed as the rules and markets have changed. Taking vitamins and supplements is like mixing nitrogen into the water you pour on your houseplants. Sometimes it makes you look and feel a little better. However, you still have to be able to put the bat on the ball and know what to do in the field. The real knowledge and skill required comes about through thousands of hours of repetition, not from a bottle full of something made in a lab.

As for any players doing illegal PED, I've never heard anything credible.
