I know what to expect from Brasil, but can someone please tell me a little about Croatia? What kind of football do they play?

I hope not. I'll be in Brazil soon and I don't want the atmosphere to suck if the hosts are playing poorly.

Croatia's style of football in a word would be: cagey.
They're not necessarily an attacking or defensive team, but they do both fairly well. As with most Balkan teams, they have very technically gifted players (Modric and Rakitic) and a few head cases (Mandzukic).

I Croatia initially seem extremely attractive when you assess their midfield trio, but the more you consider areas of weakness – left-back, central midfield, the lack of pace at the back, the absence of genuine width – they feel like a team only boasting one quality.
That means they’ll control games, but converting this dominance into victories is another matter, and Croatia will probably go home in the first or second rounds, having impressed but frustrated.

I don't understand what people being at work has to do with not updating the score in the thread title. Are they going to watch a replay of the game or something? Do they expect to go the whole day without hearing/seeing the score?
That is my plan for the day actually. And to be honest, sometimes I get bored and forget about the game going on so I will come to the board to kill some time and i would rather not see the score. Seeing the score of games that I am watching just for fun kind of ruins the game for me.

Anybody else about to watch the opening ceremony? I'm fully prepared to see some fine arse Brazilian dancers. Female dancers that is.

ITV's got Cannavaro in the studio and the guy can't speak English at all.
Dammit, Ian Wright is walking on the beach talking about James Bond.

Um, guys, nobody's complained about the ball yet. Will this be a World Cup first?

Too busy complaining about the fields

It might be. The protests have been pretty good journalism fodder.

Can someone fill me in on what's up with Mandzukic? For some reason I didn't know anything about him missing the match

Well it rhymes with bazooka so if it does some strange shite we shouldn't be all that surprised.
As long as it play to our advantage too then who gives a fack.
