No, but they may very well meet somewhere in the middle. Which still half fricks the saints and either cuts will HAVE to be made or people will have to re-structure their contracts.

The precedent has already been set like 10 years ago with the meeting in the middle.

Sproles and Thomas both caught 70+ last year. Both are now WR's.

since the Saints will have to pay him like a WR, then do they just move him to that position anyway and keep more TEs on the roster?

Hopefully. He blocks about as well as wet tissue paper and Brees was sacked/hit more last season than any other in his career by a long shot.

and sproles should be paid like a wr.....this is such bs. do you wanna be a wr? then switch positions. otherwise your a te. now maybe they can meet somewhere in the middle to show appreciation, but to give him wr money and hes still a te is just ludicrous

I honestly think meeting in the middle would be best for both parties. If Jimmy gets a WR tag (which he won't), then saints would have to meet that the next season. If Jimmy doesn't get a compromise and stays as a TE tag, I think he will still demand WR money or at least take offers if not leave to another team that will offer him that much money.

I think meeting in the middle would satisfy JG enough to want around the same amount for his next contract.

SSSSShhhhh don't tell any one but Jimmys's camp doesn't even want for him to be classed as a WR.

His stats as a TE would take a tumble or go to zero.
His chances in getting to the Hall as a TE take a tumble.
His chances for pro-bowl as a WR are nill.
No other team would tag him as a WR making it harder to stick.

As many have said over and over again its a contract negotiation tool. Even if designated as a WR I think his camp would gladly refuse the ruling(if possible) for a compromise on a higher than offered contract.

Exactly.

BTW, for the OP, I guess Richard Sherman should play QB.

If he were to win this arbitration, with the Saints cap position, how long would they have before the Saints would be forced to either create cap space or allow him to become a free agent?
