He doesn't own the team, the trust does. And the trust deemed him mentally unfit to conduct business. So he can't sue the NBA. OK, he can, you always can, but he has no standing. He has to sue the trust first to even be able to sue the NBA. Then, the trust has already indemnified the NBA from suit. So even if he wins, he's back to suing the trust again.
Yeah man I bet those lawyers he pays 3000 an hour haven't thought of this.

Baloo is a lawyer
And the article says the same thing he just said

Shelly Sterling indemnified the NBA from damages in future lawsuits from her estranged husband as part of the sale agreement with the league. She negotiated the sale as the sole trustee of the Sterling family trust, which owns LA Clippers LLC, after two neurologists had declared Donald Sterling unable to conduct his own business and legal affairs. The provisions of the family trust did not require a court order. To challenge her authority to conduct the sale, Donald Sterling would have to challenge her in California probate court, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

I bet they're thinking about the hours more than any of this.

Of course they have. They've though about all of the easy billable work they're going to get on this case. but they have to jump through several hoops before they ever get to the NBA, and even then, the trust has indemnified the NBA to a lawsuit from Sterling.
So... endless work from a rich client who is fighting over the principle of thing and not money? That's like a license to print money as a lawyer. That's a dream client. He's going to send those lawyers' kids to college, and then a trip to Europe afterwards.
