Yeah, Goretex and neoprene suck balls. Wear your flannel and your red ball waders, I'll be warm and toasty. You get what you pay for.

Some things, I'm willing to pay top dollar, but some things, I have saved a lot of dollars.

$300 for a small icechest is one of those things I wouldn't spring for. I have paid over $750 for a SSI 300 qt icechest though. Told the wife that I can used it for a coffin when I die.

Sometimes. There are good quality products that cost more. There are also average products with brand appeal that are a worse value than some lesser priced products.

If I'm buying something to last a season or two I'll run to academy. If I need something that's gonna last 30 years I'll be spending some money.

You must not know what you're doing with it, then!
Goretex is the ultimate shite. It drives -all- moisture from inside and pushes it outward. It itself is 100% waterproof.
