Nice dress shoes?

Where and/or what brands should I be looking at. Only thing I've looked at so far is Johnston and Murphy. Whatever I get definitely has to have leather soles as I wear through rubber soles too quickly.

Can't go wrong with Johnston and Murphy.

Allen Edmunds for sure. And Alden.
Johnston and Murphy is for kids.

They make some really big sizes for kids.

There are some big kids.
Buy J&M if you want a shoe that will look nice for a second. They don't hold up. Buy AE or Alden if you want a classic shoe that will last a lifetime.

Aldo shoes
no. The OP asked for nice dress shoes not square toed guidoish dress shoes.

I generally agree with you, but IMO, AE is starting to slip in their quality. They are not as well made as they once were.

I haven't bought a pair in a couple years, but the pairs I have are holding up fine.
Te one exception is a pair of Stanford's. They seem to be showing more wear than any of my other pairs.
X2 on what Mo Jeaux said about Aldo. Too trendy for my taste.

This.
They dominate J&M on look and quality, yet are about the same price.

Cole Haan makes a nice shoe. Very comfortable in the heel

Look at Allen Edmonds and Alden. Both will be Goodyear welted, so you can have the soles changed and they will literally last forever if you take care of them. Shoe trees are a must, and you need to get in the habit of using them right after you take the shoes off.
If you want to step up to a level just past that, check out Carmina Shoemaker.

This! All my dress shoes are AE but once they were "acquired" by Brentwood their quality changed.
Still searching for another company that has the walnut color shoes I like

Obvious OT Baller.
J&M gets a bad rep around the OT cause everyone here is OT rich, but their upper end shoes are quality. I've had a pair that's lasted me around a decade +.
I'll agree with you on most of J&M's rubber soled shoes.

I have a pair of Allen Edmonds, Johnson & Murphy, and Cole Haan and they've all held up well. All of them are around 6-10 months old
