You are 100 percent correct. The seven week stretch of three races run at different distances has been going on since I can remember, and I started watching the triple crown in 1962. The challenge is meant to be a test of ability, soundness, and endurance. California Chrome ran a solid, and his classless owner diminished his effort with his comments. This man should apologize. If he really thought that the format of the Triple Crown was unfair, then he shouldn't have run. Why shouldn't owner who are based in New York not be allowed to run in the premiere event in their state? Enter California Chrome in the Woodward, Marlboro, and the Breeder's Cup Classic; there is plenty of time between those races. This man's poor sportsmanship made racing look bad. The sad thing is that many people will agree with his comments.

I've always thought it was dumb that the Triple Crown is be done in 7 weeks.

if they want to build hype to save their dying sport they should stretch it out longer.

but whatevs, its their thing so they can run it however.

this dude shouldn't complain when every other TC winner has faced the same odds.

The triple crown is obsolete in many ways. It was built 100 years ago for what horses did back then - run early and run often.
They just aren't bred to do that anymore and really haven't been since the 1950s. Still, Super Horses will win the Crown and there hasn't been a super horse since Spectacular Bid who didn't win the triple crown only because of injury. .
Secretariat, Seattle Slew and Affirmed were super horses.
