AMC - Sundays 9 CST
IMDB
Caught the first episode, been looking forward to it.
Thought the pacing was good. Like the main character. Girl reminds me of a Jolie character from HACKERS type feel.
Should be interesting IMO.

I enjoyed it. Will keep watching.

It was enough to make me want to see what happens next. The lead guy makes me feel like they are trying to rebrand Mad Men.

Figured I'd give this the ol' bump after watching.
Started a little slow but I enjoyed it. I like the taking on the man feel to it.

I thought it was pretty good. Missed the very beginning and maybe a part or two afterwards. Didn't see any boobage though. And the one "scene" between the salesman guy and the blond girls was way meh.

Same, I thought it finished strong. I'm not sold on the main character yet. He comes across as a doosh, but I think he's got the right idea. Will definitely watch again.

Wrong board. Tech board.
Just kidding. But seriously. Think about the idea of a sexy charismatic alpha male as a computer guy. Why not? Cause there ain't such a universe.

I'm interested in seeing some of his backstory. I think people will automatically make ties to Mad Men and the "mysterious past" storyline but I don't think it's anything cliche at this point. shite has to get real to walk away from IBM money and go completely off the grid.
When Gordon asked him if he had a wife or kids and he said nothing at all, I took it like he was non-committal because he just might.

That was a damn good episode. Can't wait to find out more about Joe as the show progresses. Hope AMC doesn't get money hungry and cancels it due to bad ratings. Despite the fact that Mad Men and Breaking Bad also started out slow.

I really liked this episode. I used AMC Story Sync--- one of the facts posted was the first mobile phone in 1983 was $3,995 & only had 30 minutes talk time

Great show. Like the characters. Sometimes need to rewind when they are explaining some computer jargon. Still kind of confused what that binder of codes is.

Wow that's some dense stuff. So the I/O symbol on every computer stands for input/output? Interesting.

In IBM PC compatible computers, the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS), also known as System BIOS, ROM BIOS or PC BIOS (/'b??.?s/), is a de facto standard defining a firmware interface.[1] The name originated from the Basic Input/Output System used in the CP/M operating system in 1975.[2][3] The BIOS software is built into the PC, and is the first software run by a PC when powered on.
The fundamental purposes of the BIOS are to initialize and test the system hardware components, and to load a bootloader or an operating system from a mass memory device. The BIOS additionally provides an abstraction layer for the hardware, i.e. a consistent way for application programs and operating systems to interact with the keyboard, display, and other input/output devices. Variations in the system hardware are hidden by the BIOS from programs that use BIOS services instead of directly accessing the hardware. Modern operating systems ignore the abstraction layer provided by the BIOS and access the hardware components directly.
The BIOS of the original IBM PC/XT had no interactive user interface. Error messages were displayed on the screen, or coded series of sounds were generated to signal errors. Options on the PC and XT were set by switches and jumpers on the main board and on peripheral cards. Modern Wintel-compatible computers provide a setup routine, accessed at system power-up by a particular key sequence. The user can configure hardware options using the keyboard and video display.
BIOS software is stored on a non-volatile ROM chip on the motherboard. It is specifically designed to work with each particular model of computer, interfacing with various devices that make up the complementary chipset of the system. In modern computer systems, the BIOS contents are stored on a flash memory chip so that the contents can be rewritten without removing the chip from the motherboard. This allows BIOS software to be easily upgraded to add new features or fix bugs, but can make the computer vulnerable to BIOS rootkits.
MS-DOS (PC DOS), which was the dominant PC operating system from the early 1980s until the mid 1990s, relied on BIOS services for disk, keyboard, and text display functions. MS Windows NT, Linux, and other protected mode operating systems in general do not use it after loading.
BIOS technology is in transitional process toward the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) since 2010.[4]

Really? I got the sincere impression he was the son of an IBM bigwig or something like that.

I started watching last night with E1. I'm hooked. I want to see what happens.

Does IBM even make Personal Computers or lap tops or pads anymore?
I'm guessing they still make mainframes but I'm not even sure about that.

They sold off all that to Lenovo a while back.
