When you're 12 years old, and plotting to murder someone, then go through with the attempt to the point that you not only stab them once, but brutally 19 times, it's no longer about a maturation of thought process. You have something seriously, seriously wrong with you. Age won't correct it.

I agree 100% with what you've posted here. My son is this age. I'm around him and his friends daily from neighborhood life, church functions, school functions, to the ballpark. Without going and counting them, I'd say I know very well at least 30 or so boys and girls this age. There is not a one of them I'd consider even close to being able to fathom life and death decisions on the level of an adult. For a kid this age to exhibit this type of behavior says that kid has deep mental issues.

I've raised 4, and coached for as long as I can remember. Kids that age don't think like adults and they make stupid decisions. But nothing in the ballpark of plotting a murder and trying to carry it out. That has nothing whatsoever to do with maturity. That's a whole different level of evil.

Those kids knew what they were doing was wrong. I get being young and stealing something, or drinking, or smoking. But this? They have severe issues. And I'm not sure they'll ever be normal.
