What defines a homewrecker?

The thread the other day got me to thinking about homewreckers and just what is the exact definition...
For example, I have a friend who had a relationship (almost nightly) with a married chick (at the beginning she claimed they were separated) for almost over a year. But, he was never home and lived in another state after taking a new job and having their new house built and ony came back once or twice a month on the weekends. She lived on the next street with her two young girls and surrounded by mutual friends. We found out that they got divorced less than a year after moving up with him and then she remarried less than a year after that... She was quite the nympho, too...
So, OT, who is the homewrecker? I told my friend he wasn't because it really seemed like she didn't give a sh*t...

if he can claim ignorance on what was going on with the marriage, then she's the homewrecker.
She sounds crazy, and crazy is gonna crazy.

I used to think a "homewrecker" is someone who willingly continues an affair while fully-aware of the potential consequences to the other participant's family (wife/children).
However, is there a distinction made for someone who actively advances on a married person and tries to lure them into an extra-marital affair and potential divorce?

So right at a year? Under a year?

Sounds like it was already wrecking, but credit him with the assist.

Meant to say almost a year...

From what he says, I think it was in already full-meltdown mode. I mean, he went over there almost nightly and was only freaked out once when one of the kids walked into the room while he was tapping it. He said she told him to be quiet and took the kid back to bed. To me, that screams "ho" big time and he wasn't a contributor...

He certainly had his priorities in order
Sounds like neither of them cared much about the marriage. Why should your buddy?

Yea, that person is called a low life degenerate tPOS.
Way too many fish in the sea to knowingly pursue a married person. That goes for memeber of both sexes.

She says she is separated, you take her at her word. No foul on your buddy.
Also, no homewrecker can bust up a marriage that isn't already unhealthy.
ETA: personally, I wouldn't mess with a chick if she's "separated". That can mean a lot if things.

A homewrecker is a person who actively tries to break up a marriage to have the person for themselves for whatever selfish reason. It's not the person who the married person cheats with. There's always real trouble in those marriages already unless one is just a whore.
