It looked like Kramer might have tagged the guy before he made it to the bag on the steal.. But it was a crappy tag and you're not going to get the call on a close play when you tag the guy up around the chest when he slides feet first.

It was a really weak throw. If it had been a better throw the ump might have given it to him. But still, that Ump can go frick himself.

The pitifulness of the throw was striking. Everyone knew he was going to be out until that throw. I'm a huge fan of Laird but on that throw I was like

i am a fan of laird also. but the weakest arm should be in left because he has the shortest throws.

What about the SB on the next play?
IMO, throw beat him, tag didn't. Safe.

IMO the home plate ump was just awful. On that check swing (which wasn't checked), it was a damn strike anyway. And McMullen nearly got hit on the elbow and it was called a strike. He was the most inconsistent behind the plate I've seen in a while. Sometimes you got the outside corner, sometimes not, and a ball 6" inside was a strike.

I watched the replay earlier. Looked like laird threw him out. Also Laird was safe when they threw behind him at first.

That 3rd string espn 3 crew botched the replay on Laird being thrown behind. They were showing horrible angle replays when you hear the crowd cheer for an RBI single that they missed right after that play. Laird most definitely beat the ball back on his single going back to first. It looked like from one angle that Laird's hand hit the first basemen's foot which I think is why the ump botched the call.

ETA: I think Laird's throw to first was late and the dude was safe on that play.

We were sitting on first base side. It looked to us that the ump wasn't calling ANYTHING on the outside. Is that would it looked on TV?

No. Ump was inconsistent. He gave Nola the outside several times, but would then tighten up for no reason. He never gave the high strike, an it seemed at times he give a little on the low end of the zone..,then he would take that away at times too.

He just wasn't very good, IMO.
