When the show initially aired, I wasn't a fan. I thought it was A-Team meets X-Files.

Plus I hated John Noble.

Not his fault. He did such a great job as Denethor, I hated the actor.

I gave up on the initial run after 2 or 3 episodes.

Finally got hooked when I watched the show in the first quarter of 2013.

On to the rewatch.

Pilot episodes are always pretty rough around the edges as the actors learn to act.

Broyles was a bit over the top at time especially when he kept calling Olivia L-I-A-S-O-N.

I was worried that this was going to be another government obstructionist / cover up show.

At least by the end of episode 1, Broyles warmed on Olivia and the gang. Happy to see he isn't Skinner 2.0.

Agents breaking in without warrant still bugs me. Yes once the show becomes about the survival of the planet, a lock pick isn't so important, but early in the show it bugs me just like it did with my initial watch.

Peter was a bit boring and his Big Eddie plot stunk. The writers knew it stunk which is why is went away without ever being mentioned again.

My first real watch, I was also a bit worried about Agent Scott. Mark Valley makes paint drying seem as exciting as a last second winning touchdown pass in the super bowl.

Wasn't unhappy to see him die, then very unhappy to see him haunting Olivia.

Episode 2 had a definite X-Files / Millennium vibe. Not much else to say about that one.

Episode 3 also felt like it would be at home on the X-Files.

I always give Star Trek credit for making the technology sound like a real feasible science.

Same can be said for Fringe. Walter is very good at coming up with explanations for everything and Peter plays the skeptic but unlike Scully, he is willing to admit Walter is right when the science proves to be true.

TLDR

Definitely shows that Peter don't give a frick. He feels above the law.

Definitely agree the Big Eddie plot is pretty underwhelming.

This is what personally makes the show for me. They take a legitimate science and take it too far, but always bring it back to the base science. That is the show in a nutshell and what I love about it.
