From my online research they seem like a good investment but I have never used one before. I was hoping to get some input from people who have experiance with them. I don't want to install something all throughout my house if i'm not going to want to use in 2 years.

Had one in my last house and it worked great. We had a black lab and it was incredible how often I had to change out the filter because of all his shedding. It lasted about 12 years before I had to replace it.

The only thing I don't like about it is how my wife would drag that hose across that house and frick up the base boards. We are building again soon and she wants another one so of course I'm buying another.

We use our religiously. We have 2 dogs and it does a great job. I installed it myself, it really is just PVC and the control wire. A fairly simple install.
