I know my friends dad was a pilot and he told me some good stories of them dropping loads off in Melville. La....He didn't fly the planes then. He was just the young guy who was on the runway with the flags. At the time he didn't know what was in the plane. lol... The the old man that owned the strip never had to serve time. He's old as dirt now and don't know the difference between 1 & 2.

There is a long essay on Amazon about Barry Seal. Really good read.

I've read he grew up on Lovers Lane off of Government st and as an adult he had a big house off of Perkins rd in Oakbrook subdivision.
My personal belief from what I've read is that Bush (41) and Oliver North set up this murder. It was said that Seal had footage of George W and Jeb Bush loading drugs on a plane in Florida.

not that it's relevant to the thread, but I have my doubts about that, TWA was always an old stagnant airline, always on the verge of going broke, barely getting through the winter, and getting saved by vacation fares each year, and perpetually laying people off, which is what happened to Seal, and may have accelerated him towards his new profession
ETA: plus, he had already been furloughed by that age
He wasn't Laid off he was fired and arrested
And he was the youngest pilot flying 747s

not sure what that's supposed to even mean, but, a flight engineer doesn't fly the airplane

He was marked for death when Reagan held a televised press conference showing photos of the drug lord passing bags of coke that could have only come from hidden cameras on Barry's plane.
That happened after Seal was already dead

Not exactly sure what you are getting at here. That seems irrelevant because he was working as a pilot when flying the 747s
I've read a lot about his life as he used to come around when I was a kid.
I'm just unsure what exactly you mean is all

the entry level position for pilots at all airlines (major, flag,) at the time was as a flight engineer, although there were professional flight engineers at the time, the entry level position for a pilot was as a flight engineer, sitting sideways, on the "panel," running the aircraft systems, didn't fly the plane

I got ya now
I don't know about the inside info only what I've read and I always had it in my brain housing unit that he was the pilot

Almost exactly one month after his death, which makes you go hmm.

I remember as a kid passing by the Salvation Army when this happened and seeing the whole place taped off by the police. I still remember where his car was parked.

no biggie, everyone gets the terminology mixed up, but T-Way was such a fricked up airline, that if he'd stayed the straight and narrow, I don't think he'd have ever made B-747 Captain before he aged out, First Officer, yes

Thanks for clarifying. My terminology was mixed up too. I thought the first officer was the one sitting sideways. Since you have 777 in your handle, I trust your information.

I'm still reminded of what happened every time I pass by it.

That hotel next to the salavation army where the shooters were was a pretty good location for that hit.

the terminology used from airline to airline varies depending on what branch of service the guy who originally wrote the manual was from , but generally: pilot = Captain
co-pilot = First Officer
flight engineer was referred to as flight officer if the person was a pilot, second officer if a professional flight engineer
