it was a big project that they invested heavily in, so yeah there was a good bit of risk involved here vs. a total reboot with no name actors that if it flops it flops.

if this movie bombed it was going to hurt

Oh you mean DOFP was financial risky, not the future X Movies took plot and film risks.

Got it.

I still don't think it was risky. X-Men movies have been extremely popular and most of their cast are legitimate stars.

I would say in any major series, if a movie bombs it can hurt big time. The MCU has kind of insulated itself from that, but if A2 is a terrible film I can see that having major repercussions. GoTG on the other hand is probably immune to bombing.

Batman and Robin not only killed Batman for almost ten years, but also killed comic book movies for a while.
