I think it may seem that way to you because the law is on the side of the left on this issue.

To understand my question in the OP, imagine the law were reversed. Would abortion be a bigger issue to those on the left or those on the right? That may have been a better way to pose my question.

I think the number of people who are passionate about it are about even on both sides, with a very uneven geographic distribution.

It's not even in my top ten issues. I'm intellectually pro choice, and I'm pro choice because it pisses off the fundies. But it doesn't affect me directly like a lot of other issues do.

It would be a very ugly black market, I know that. I think the same folks would care either way. I also think that if it is the single most important political issue to anyone, then they need to re-prioritize.
