I'd say average at LSU is like $150k. Tack on benefit packages on top of salaries you double your number. Then tack on coaches/athletics staff $25M(most schools don't operate like LSU/TAF). Capital improvement projects one a year at $10-20M. New state of the art Dell desktops $500/pop. The board of directors' private jet usage, $10M. Lining the pockets of top administration, governors, senators, etc. $20-30M

Average tenured teacher, or major research teacher might make that much, but as a whole, the teachers cannot make an average of $150k/yr. Just too hard for me to believe. Say they buy 500 computers at $500, that's still only $250,000/yr. Building two new buildings probably costs(just guessing) $50MM/yr.
In no way does it add up to them losing money, and frankly, it seems to me like they would be at least clearing a couple of hundred million a year.
